Brushstrokes in Billtown
First Annual PLEIN AIR COMPETITION
Saturday October 14, 2023
Join us for Lycoming Arts' 1st Annual Plein Air Competition, Brushstrokes in Billtown.
Artists of all ages, skill levels, and experience are invited to set-up and capture the beautiful setting of Downtown Williamsport using whatever medium of their choice. Artists will have two hours to paint any subject of their choice in Downtown Williamsport for a chance to win one of the cash prizes.
To be judged, artists must have their canvases stamped. Stamping begins at 8:30AM and can be certified at the Lycoming Arts Gallery on 46 W. 4th Street, Williamsport, PA where judging will also take place.
SCHEDULE:
Saturday, October 14, 2023
- 8:30am: Stamp at Lycoming Arts Gallery
- 9:00am-11am: Artists Paint
- 11am-11:15am: Artists Return Paintings Back for Judging
- 11:15am-11:30am: Complimentary Lunch Pickup
- 11:30am: Judging Begins at Lycoming Arts Gallery
PRIZES:
- 1st Place Winner: $300
- 2nd Place Winner: $200
- Viewers' Choice Winner: $250
FEES
- $25 in advance. | $30 day of event
ENTRY DETAILS
- Painters of all ages, skill levels, and experience are welcome to participate.
- Artists must have their canvas stamped prior to event at Lycoming Arts Gallery to be judged.
- Stamping begins at 8:30am.
- Artists have a two-hour time frame from 9am to 11 am to complete their work using media of choice.
- Canvases must be completed in Plein Air style (painting outdoors).
- Artists are encouraged to use the scenery of Downtown Williamsport.
- Please do not sign artwork until event is over.

Make Paper at Rider Park!

When: Tuesday, July 25th, from 5-7PM

Parking: Park at the picnic pavilion
Add flowers or seeds to discarded paper to create new sheets of paper! We will discuss paper waste and the importance of trees. Complete the evening with an art project on homemade paper. Come ready for paint, ink, or glue!

Temporary (Ephemeral) Art at Rider Park

Parking: Park at the picnic pavilion
Learn about ephemeral art, also known as temporary art. We will collect objects from around the park to create our own temporary work of art. Learn about a famous artist named Andy Goldsworthy and the shapes and colors he is able to create with natural materials such as leaves, twigs, rocks, water, and ice! Discuss how artwork from natural materials encourages conservation. Collect plant materials and create an art piece to take home.
